Mapping the Naples Canal

Working under the direction of the Archaeological and Historical Conservancy, we mapped the location of an ancient buried canal in Naples.  The canal was constructed and used by local tribes, primarily the Calusa.  Read about the project and see some of the GPR results at naplesindiancanal.org.

Karst Feature Mapping Capability

RMBAKER is a geology business with particular expertise in the mapping of all forms of karst.  This expertise is well suited for development projects that must adhere to the "Guidelines for Preparing Comprehensive Plan Amendments for the Wekiva Study Area" mandated by The Wekiva Parkway and Protection Act.

From a geological perspective, the Act raises concerns regarding land use around and within recharge areas and karst features with the intent to protect water resources within the Wekiva Springs "karst sensitive area".  Very generalized map products of Type A soil types and closed topographic depressions are a part of the Act, and likely a part of local municipal comprehensive plans.

We are well qualified to locate and map:

  • surface karst features
  • subsurface karst features and extents
  • surface recharge soils
  • subsurface recharge systems and confining units
  • hydrogeologic conditions related to groundwater flow and recharge

FGWA Quarterly Membership Meeting Presentation - St. Petersburg, FL

On January 11, 2014 we hosted and presented at the FGWA membership meeting in St. Petersburg, FL.  Our topic was "Geophysical Basics of Well Logging."

Well Pumping Capabilities In-House

Recently we added a small 5.5HP "trash" pump to our mobile equipment.  This pump allows us to develop small wells sufficiently for high quality video imaging, and to explore the well casing during a "dynamic" or pumped state to look for leaks.

Expanded Video Capabilities

We have added a small diameter downview color camera to our logging suite.  This unit has a depth capability of 280 feet (300 feet of cable total), and can easily fit into 2-inch casings.  It's a self contained system that is portable to remote sites and will be deployed immediately for monitor well construction verifications and well "fishing" operations.  Future plans are to upgrade to 1000 feet of cable and add a "fish-eye" camera and sideview camera with the same narrow diameter capability.

RMBAKER Expanding Professional Licensure

We are working on obtaining Professional Geology licensure in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee.  This will expand our capacity to provide not just technical services, but certified consulting products.
